When Life Feels Like It’s Just Happening to You
There is a season many women go through where life begins to feel like something that is just… happening.
The alarm rings.
You go to work.
You take care of the house.
You answer texts.
You go to sleep.
And somehow weeks turn into months… and months turn into years.
One day you pause and realize something surprising.
You aren’t exactly unhappy.
But you also aren’t intentionally choosing the direction of your life.
You’re simply responding to it.
If you’ve been feeling stuck in life or unsure about where you’re going, you’re not alone. Many strong women eventually reach a moment where they realize they’ve been living on autopilot.
And that realization can actually become the beginning of something beautiful.
The Quiet Realization
There’s a difference between living intentionally and simply managing life as it comes.
For many years, I lived in response mode.
I worked hard.
I showed up for people.
I did what needed to be done.
But if I’m honest, I wasn’t consciously choosing the direction of my life.
Then one day I realized something simple but powerful:
Life will go somewhere whether you guide it or not.
Days will pass either way.
The question is whether you are awake inside them.
The Moment You Start Steering
Living intentionally doesn’t mean blowing up your whole life and starting over.
It usually begins much quieter than that.
It begins with questions like:
What do I want my days to feel like?
What kind of woman do I want to become?
What have I been tolerating that no longer fits me?
What would bring more peace into my life?
When you begin asking these questions, something shifts.
You move from being a passenger in your life… to becoming the one holding the map.
Small Choices Change the Direction
Most life changes don’t happen in dramatic moments.
They happen through small, steady choices.
You protect your peace a little more.
You begin speaking honestly where you once stayed silent.
You make room for things that make your soul come alive.
Maybe you begin writing again.
Maybe you spend more time in nature.
Maybe you reconnect with dreams that have quietly been waiting for you.
From the outside these choices may seem small.
But inside, they change everything.
Because you are no longer letting life happen to you.
You are choosing it.
If You’re Feeling Stuck Right Now
If life has felt like it’s been running on autopilot, please hear this from someone who has walked through that season:
You are not stuck.
You may simply be standing at the beginning of a new chapter where it’s time to start choosing your life again.
You don’t need the whole plan.
You only need the next step.
Clarity often comes after we begin moving.
A Quiet Question From the Lakehouse
If you could intentionally shape the next chapter of your life…
What would you want it to look like?
You don’t have to answer that perfectly today.
Just begin listening.
Your life is waiting for you to take the wheel.
If You Want Support Finding Your Direction
Sometimes it helps to have someone walk beside you while you sort through the noise and reconnect with what truly matters to you.
That’s the work I do with women through Trajectory Life Coaching.
